This fountain runs in direct sunlight but has a battery unit as well which will power the fountain on overcast or cloudy days. A fully charged battery will power the fountain for up to four hours. I bought mine in Spring of 2021. Fast delivery, easy to assemble and works like a charm. For a relatively small size fountain the sound of the water can be heard easily . You will need to clean it in the warm weather to remove algae buildup or purchase a bottle of algae preventative (HD, Lowes…$8) and add a cap to the water after cleaning to prolong the next cleaning. Cover with a heavy bedspread and bring the solar panel inside over the Winter and this little engine that could works like the energizer bunny!
The fountain works perfectly. Easy to install. The water start to flow when the solar panel is exposed to sun, and stop to flow when sunlight is off the panel.
I love this fountain. Simple but elegant. The birds can get a drink from it too. I would buy this again.
purchased this fountain for my mother, she and the birds absolutely love it.
I love my new fountain, however, it's not perfect. First, the instructions were missing, but with that being said, It was pretty easy to assemble. The only thing keeping from me giving it 5 stars is the solar only works when directly facing the sun. I wish it would store energy so it could run during the evening hours without having to switch it to battery power. This may be possible, I don't know because I did not receive instructions.
