GIANNINI Fountain Placement and Safety

Fountain Placement & Safety Guidelines

  • Stable Foundation: Place fountains on a level, solid base like concrete, compacted gravel, or pavers for proper operation.
  • Large Basin Support: Fountains with basins 48”+ should sit on soft surfaces (sand or gravel). If placed on concrete, add a 1”-2” sand layer for even support and to prevent stress cracks.
  • Water Supply: No permanent water line needed; fountains use recirculating pumps. Refill as needed.
  • Electrical Access: Use a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet within reach of the pump’s 12-ft cord.
  • Water Level Maintenance: Keep water filled to the rim at all times to prevent concrete damage.
  • Winter Protection: Drain and cover the fountain or store it indoors during freezing temperatures. Never leave water in during prolonged freezes.
  • Temperature Caution: Avoid adding water to a hot fountain to prevent cracking. Fill during cooler hours.
  • Pump Care: Clean the pump filter monthly; more frequently in debris-heavy areas. Keep it free of leaves and buildup.
  • Algae & Stain Prevention: Use an algae-reducing solution like Fountec. Avoid chlorine and pool chemicals, which damage the pump and fountain.
  • Hard Water Precaution: Use filtered or distilled water to prevent mineral buildup. Remove white residue immediately with a vinegar solution or specialty cleaners.
  • Weight & Stability: Fountains are held together by gravity; do not glue or cement parts. Keep children from climbing or sitting on fountains/statues.
  • Wall Fountains: Secure the top half to a wall or fence for stability.

⚠️ Caution: Fountain Safety

  • Do not climb, sit, or lean on fountains or statues—excess weight may cause them to fall.
  • Keep children away to prevent accidents.
  • Wall fountains must be secured using the attachment point behind the top half. Fasten to a wall or fence for stability.
